How can a traditional material be translated into the future of construction?
In her lecture, Elena Yaneva (Hempstatic) will show how hemp-lime, as a bio-based composite material, is opening up new avenues for architecture, materials science and construction. From material properties and possible applications to questions of circular economy, industrialisation and start-up development. Using Hempstatic as an example, she will connect technological, design and entrepreneurial perspectives and critically reflect on the collaboration between disciplines. Where does the potential lie, where are the challenges, and how can a better understanding of materials and interdisciplinary collaboration become the basis for a sustainable building culture?
Elena Yaneva studied civil engineering at the Vienna University of Technology and conducted research into the development of building materials from renewable and recycled raw materials.
With the founding of Hempstatic in 2022, she is continuing her vision of leading construction into a circular, bio-based future.
Hempstatic's products were presented at the World Expo in Osaka, Japan, in 2025.
